How 45 minutes in my driveway changed my life.

Mar 28, 2022

Saturday morning basketball set the scene that would change my life forever.

Let me first back up a little bit though.

With six kids, I spend a LOT of time in my car. Two different schools, baby/toddler classes, soccer, dance, basketball, ninja class, playdates, birthday parties, and the list goes on and on. Needless to say, my car is a mess. Not just like a few things here and there mess, more like unidentified and moldy objects (don't judge) mess. Broken masks, granola bar pieces, broken barrettes, goldfish, empty water bottles, pacifiers, scattered toys, and lots of wrappers to name just a few offenders.

As I sat next to my friend talking about my Saturday plans, I casually suggested I was going to get the kids to help me clean out the car. Spring is here and I was feeling the need to clean out the cobwebs stat. The kids were less than thrilled, but the idea of a clean car had me excited.

She grabbed my arm with wide eyes and said, "Wait, don't do it. Haven't I given you the name of my car detailer who comes to your house? You need to call them!"

At that moment the basketball dribbling background noise fell quiet and I felt speechless.

I mustered out, "I would love that contact now. Do you think they could come this week?"

Three hours later, the white van of my dreams pulled into our driveway. Four strong guys started cleaning the inside and outside of my car from top to bottom and inside out. Save their pretty little souls, they even removed the carseats and the amount of food found behind those seats that could easily be enough for a meal for one of my kids on any given day.

Forty-five minutes later, the power washing, wiping, vacuuming and spraying had all been finished. I literally hugged the main guy and said that we were going to become best friends.

Getting into my car an hour later, I didn't realize how dirty it was. I didn't realize how clean it could be. That vacuum at the gas station does nothing compared to these guys. My car smelled new and I sat up a little straighter with not a goldfish wedged into my side or a spec of dust on my dashboard. I felt transformed along with my car. It felt brand new all over again.

Life. Changing.

I'll never go back to the old car wash options. EVER.

This got me thinking about how life changing it is to stop dieting. You don't even realize how bad things are until you stop. You don't know how much better things can be because what you've tried before just keeps you in the same quasi "clean" place. You didn't even realize that it's possible to feel like a brand new person.

Aren't you ready to see how good it can be on the other side? It'll take you longer than 45 minutes, but the results are real and, damn, they're good.

Everyone needs a friend to tell them, "Wait, don't do that anymore. I've got the perfect thing for you". See below for my life changing ideas for you. You'll never want to go back and you can feel brand new all over again, too.
