Well, that diet went well. (It did not.)

Well, that diet went well. (It did not.)

What’s the #1 cause of weight gain?

The answer is...

Dieting.

Numerous studies prove that dieting almost never leads to lasting weight loss. In fact, 95% of dieters end up maintaining their current weight—or gaining additional weight—as a result of the restrictive diet they’ve tried.  Their weight set point can increase and the 5% that do lose weight often only lose between 5-10 pounds.

This is because—as you and I both know, all too well—diets always backfire in the end.

You know how it goes. After depriving yourself of your favorite foods for a few days or weeks, you reach a point where you just can’t do it anymore. You allow yourself to cheat—“just this once,” you promise yourself—but as soon as you taste that first brownie or slice of pizza, it’s like you lose all self-control. You’ve fallen “off the wagon”.  Suddenly, you can’t seem to stop eating. You start spiraling. It feels like you’re making up for all those barren, pleasure-less weeks of deprivation. You keep eating and eating. You feel out of control. The weight comes right back on.

I went through this frustrating cycle so many times in the past. It took me a long time to understand that… it wasn’t my fault.

Really. It’s not your fault. You have not failed. It’s the diet—a deeply flawed, ineffective system with a 95% failure rate—that has failed you.

Diets do not work—and yet we keep trying them, spending billions on them each year, hoping “this time” will be different than before. The weight loss industry is a 60 billion dollar a year business.

The pursuit of weight loss causes us to gain more weight.

The irony is almost comical.

If someone said to you, “Would you like to buy this airplane ticket? By the way, 95% of our flights end in a disastrous crash.”

Or, “Would you like to purchase this product? It will make you miserable and it only works 5% of the time. The other 95% of the time it doesn’t work at all—and in fact, it’s probably going to harm your mental and physical health.”

You’d laugh and say, “No thanks! That sounds terrible. I’ll pass.”

Consider the hilarity of those statements the next time you’re considering a new diet, detox, cleanse, or any type of restrictive eating plan—because really, that’s what you’re being sold. A system with a 95% failure rate.

You would never choose something with such a high failure rate when it comes to your finances, your career, or your family’s wellbeing and safety—so don’t choose something like that when it comes to your health.

Your precious, beautiful, miraculous body deserves better than that.

PS. If you’re so, so, so tired of struggling with your body and your weight, consider working with me. I know the pain you’re experiencing. I would love to help you feel healthier, stronger, more confident and powerful, with eating habits that feel relaxed and stress-free, and with no. more. dieting.

xoxo,
