What is love? Baby don't hurt me....

Jan 30, 2022

I hate it when people try to sell me on something when they’re really using a thin veil of lies to cover the real truth. Like when you get those calls about the warranty on your car.

“I’m calling you about very important information regarding your car’s extended warranty” says robo-call in her monotonous voice.

Except robo-call isn’t selling me a warranty. Oh no, she wants to pocket thousands so she can take her cash winnings to Vegas or go buy some Bitcoin or an NFT.

You know who else is deceiving you with their "product"? Every so-called weight loss expert out there.

Here's an example straight from a fellow life coach: "we will be learning how to embrace and love our bodies. To eat in a way that fuels our bodies because we love them. To reward our bodies for all the hard work they do with the kind of care our bodies crave".

Oh, that’s a good one. Did you see what she did there? She wrapped her diet program promising weight loss rooted in anything but self care into a shit sandwich with self love spread on the low-carb bread and some fake love sprinkled on the veggies.

Don’t be fooled. Dieting doesn’t teach you to embrace and love your body. Dieting dissociates you with your body so you actually become the person veiled in lies to cover your truths about your own hunger and desire. Imagine that, you have to turn against yourself to make someone else’s pocket book heavy.

Don’t be fooled into believing that “rewarding” your body through any form of restriction is the care you deserve.

Diet gurus are sneaky though. They want you to believe you’re going to be loving and caring for your body by forcing her (or him) into a smaller size. Because everyone knows that smaller is better, right? WRONG.

I hope the next time you hear a dieting ad you can hear it through the robo-call voice and just hang up, skip, delete, or unfollow.

Guess what, you already know what you crave (even if diet culture has taught you to silence these cravings) and you know that caring for and LOVING your body looks NOTHING like a diet. Your body doesn't crave deprivation and starvation on any level.

Don't take the tempting bait about loving yourself. That's hook, line and sinker wellness diet talk 101. Marketers appeal to your pain, shame and fear so you click add to cart.

What if you started believing a different story about yourself. The one that starts with, once upon a time they learned to accept their perfectly imperfect body and life.

You never know when your warranty on life is going to expire so you may as well enjoy your life by finding sanity around food. See below for how I can help.

*I don’t understand NFT’s, but they’re so bizarre to me, I had to mention them.
